Waheeda is the Head of Commercial Property at Berlad Graham. She joined in 2017 as a Senior Consultant with a focus on property law and practice, within the areas of Commercial and Residential Property transactions and Property Dispute Resolution.
Having qualified in 2006 with a West End/London firm, she has continued to focus on property law, assisting a varied client base of individuals and businesses, from first-time buyers to investor-clients in the UK and abroad.
Transactional work for commercial and residential property, includes: heads of terms, agreement for lease, drafting and negotiating leases, lease assignments, lease renewals, landlord & tenant portfolio management, security of tenure, licences to occupy/underlet/alter, break clauses, service charge, rent deposits, stamp duty, secured finance/refinance, sale/purchase of freehold/leasehold property, auction sales/purchases, lease extensions, deed of variation, transfer of equity, re-mortgages, right to buy and property-related trust deeds.
Dispute resolution areas covered include trust of land/co-ownership disputes including mediation, repossession of residential and commercial property, breach of lease covenant, forfeiture and arrears of rent, right of way and trespass matters, adverse possession, landlord/tenant disputes including debt recovery.
With Court rules increasingly placing an emphasis on cost-efficiency, be it before or during legal proceedings, Waheeda takes a birds-eye view and advises on the foreseeable options, outcomes and costs.
Waheeda is originally from Mauritius and also speaks her mother-tongue, Creole; she enjoys visiting whenever possible to see family and friends, and to simply enjoy the lush greenness of the island. She is a keen cook, yoga-enthusiast and loves music.
