Riccardo qualified as a solicitor in 1997. From the date of qualifying he has practiced in small niche West End Firms initially dealing with civil and commercial litigation and then expanding into commercial work. With his contacts in overseas markets such as India, Kenya, Singapore and Malaysia he soon became involved in cross boarder issues.
In 2008 Riccardo was given the opportunity to join a group of companies in Malaysia to set up their legal department and was appointed as VP Legal Counsel and Business affairs. The group was mostly concerned with the devulcanizing of rubber, namely a method of recycling rubber by the de-linking of the carbons. Much of the legal work was based on drafting substantial agreements regarding end user licenses and production agreement with large international companies.
At the time he left England he was a partner in the firm of Smith Braithwaite where he headed the litigation department and the commercial department. In Malaysia he was involved in a Federal Court matter which resulted in the Court delivering a landmark decision which is likely to have a significant impact on the bond market in Malaysia. He was also involved in the negotiations and drafting of the first agreements for the introduction of electrical public buses to the streets of Kuala Lumpur and Melaka.
Riccardo moved to Nairobi, Kenya, in 2016 where he joined John Miles & Co. advising clients on international disputes arising of contracts with emphasis on alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration.
Upon his return to the UK in 2017 he has started up a legal consultancy company and then joined Berlad Graham in 2020.
His main area of expertise is in the aiding of clients in contract negotiations and the drafting of commercial contracts. He also deals with general company, commercial matters and pre-litigation negotiations.
On a personal note Riccardo enjoys travel and cooking.
