Pricing Policy

We aim to tailor our prices to suit your case whist ensuring proportionality is always considered.

We only take on privately funded instructions and we do not have a legal aid franchise.  You may have legal expense insurance as part of your home or motor insurance. If you do, we would advise you to contact your legal expense insurance provider to see if your legal costs can be covered by your insurance. You may also wish to consider other potential sources of finding.

Where possible, we try and provide you with a fixed fee so that costs are clear and transparent in advance. Fixed quotes are suitable to cases where the amount of work and time involved can be estimated.

It is far more difficult to provide a quote where the work is of a contentious nature and there is a dispute with a third party. You simply cannot predict how the case will go or what your opponent will do.  In these circumstances, our policy is to charge the time we spend on carrying out the work, calculated by reference to our lawyers’ hourly rates which is provided to you at the outset in our client care letter.  You will only ever pay for the time that is actually being spent.  We will provide estimates of costs as the matter progresses and at each stage of the case.

Some cases may require disbursements, which are expenses payable to third parties such as a court fee or a barrister’s fee. We require that these fees to be paid by the client in advance and will advise you if and when it is required.

In high value cases the court may ask the parties to prepare a costs budget which yet again will provide you with an indication of costs.
